Our Story
Rooted in Tradition, Driven by Passion
Founded in the vibrant cultural hub of Bengaluru in October 2024, Sri Pada Dance School was born out of a profound devotion to the classical arts. Established by Bharatanatyam visionary Smt. Veena Soman, the school was created with a clear and inclusive mission: to preserve, promote, and pass on the divine tradition of Bharatanatyam to students of all ages and backgrounds.
Meet Our Founder
Smt. Veena Soman (Member of CID-UNESCO, Paris)
Smt. Veena Soman’s lifelong journey into the art of Bharatanatyam began during her early childhood. Her foundational years were deeply shaped under the dedicated tutelage of Guru Kalamandalam Smt. Kavita Krishnakumar. As her love for the art form blossomed, she pursued advanced, progressive training under eminent gurus from the prestigious Kalakshetra foundation, mastering the discipline, grace, and purity of the Kalakshetra style.
Following a True Calling
While academically accomplished with a degree in Engineering, her soul always belonged to the rhythm of dance. Driven by an unwavering passion, she chose to dedicate her life entirely to the rigorous pursuit of Bharatanatyam.
Today, her expertise and commitment to the art are recognized on a global scale. She is a proud, certified member of the International Dance Council (CID), UNESCO, Paris (since 2021). To ensure her students receive the highest standard of instruction, she also holds an International Teaching Diploma from the Asian College of Teachers (headquartered in the UK), blending traditional artistic rigor with modern, compassionate teaching methodologies.
A Legacy of Excellence
In recognition of her outstanding contribution to classical dance and education, Smt. Veena Soman is the proud recipient of the esteemed Guru Kalashree Tarang Sargam Award (2025).
Through Sri Pada Dance School, she continues to inspire the next generation of dancers, nurturing their talent and guiding them step-by-step on their own artistic journeys.
